Fuel Tank Draining Procedure (Rear Tank)

Tools Required 

J 45004  Fuel Tank Siphon Hose

CAUTION: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Caution in Cautions and Notices.

  1. Remove the fuel fill cap.
  2. Remove the fuel tank filler housing to body TORX® screws (1) and retainer (2).

  4. Remove the fuel tank filler housing to fuel tank fill pipe bolts.
  5. Remove the filler housing.

  7. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  8. Loosen the fill hose clamp at the rear tank.
  9. Remove the fill hose from the rear tank.
  10. Insert the siphon hose from J 45004  into the fuel tank.
  11. Attach the siphon hose from J 45004  to the pump device hose.
  12. Using a hand or air operated pump device, drain as much fuel from the tank as possible.
