Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the upper air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-2.2L (L61).
  2. Fig 1: View Of Power Steering Pressure Hose & Fittings

  3. Remove the clamp (5) and the power steering return hose (2) from the power steering pump (1).
  4. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  6. Remove the front exhaust pipe with the catalytic converter, automatic transmission only. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (2.2L) in Engine Exhaust.
  7. Remove the power steering return hose (2) from the vehicle.
