Accelerator Cable Adjustment

  1. With the throttle valve closed, measure the accelerator pedal free play (1). The accelerator pedal free play clearance is 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in).

  3. Loosen the accelerator cable locknut (2) at the throttle body bracket.
  4. Turn the accelerator cable adjusting nut (1) in order to obtain 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in) of accelerator pedal free play.
  5. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  6. Tighten the accelerator cable locknut (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the locknut to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).

  7. Repeat Step 1 through Step 4 until the accelerator pedal free play is 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in).

  9. With the accelerator pedal fully depressed, measure the clearance (2) between the throttle lever (3) and the throttle stop (1). Check the accelerator cable end play clearance as follows:
    • 0.5-2.0 mm (0.02-0.07 in) with a M/T
    • 0.8-1.5 mm (0.03-0.06 in) with an A/T

  11. Adjust the height of the accelerator pedal stop (1) in order to obtain the following accelerator cable end play:
    • 0.5-2.0 mm (0.02-0.07 in) with a M/T
    • 0.8-1.5 mm (0.03-0.06 in) with an A/T
