Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 in SIR.
  2. Fig 1: Identifying Console Components

  3. Remove the following from the floor:
    • The 4 screws (1,6,3,4)
    • The 2 plastic retaining clips (2,5)
    • The console box
  4. Remove the following components from the steering column:
    1. The screws
    2. The steering column upper cover
    3. The steering column lower cover
  5. Remove the bracket retaining screw (2) from the ignition switch.
  6. Remove the interlock cable (1) from the ignition switch.
  7. Remove the interlock cable nut.
  8. Remove the interlock cable at the manual selector.
  9. Remove the interlock cable (1) out from under the instrument panel.
  10. Remove the interlock cable from under the carpet.
  11. Remove the interlock cable from the interlock cable bracket at the manual selector.
  12. Inspect the interlock cable for fraying or kinks.
  13. Replace the cable as necessary.
