Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure .
  2. Disconnect the J 34730-1A  from the J 41041  fuel pressure gauge adapter. See Special Tools and Equipment . Use a shop towel in order to catch any remaining fuel that may leak.
  3. Disconnect the J 41041  from the fuel rail. See Special Tools and Equipment . Use a shop towel in order to catch any remaining fuel that may leak.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the fuel rail plug bolt (1) and a new gasket to the fuel rail.

    Tighten:  Tighten the plug bolt to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. Turn ON the ignition in order to pressurize the fuel system.
  8. Turn OFF the ignition.
  9. Check for any fuel leaks and repair as necessary.
