Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front suspension support brace (1). Refer to Front Suspension Support Brace Replacement in Front Suspension.
  2. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.

  4. Remove the four fasteners and the engine surge tank cover (1).

  6. Remove the four nuts (1) retaining the intake surge tank (3).
  7. Remove the two air inlet duct (4) fasteners (2) and remove the engine surge tank (3).
  8. Loosen the hose clamps and remove the intake air inlet duct (4) from the throttle body.
  9. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
  10. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.

  12. Disconnect the two coolant hoses (1, 3) from the throttle body (2).
  13. Disconnect idle air control (IAC) air hose from the top of the throttle body.

  15. Disconnect the accelerator control cable from the throttle body. Rotate the throttle lever (1) to wide open throttle (WOT) and remove the cable end from the slot (2).
  16. Remove the two fasteners and the accelerator cable bracket from the throttle body.
  17. Extend the transmission throttle valve cable and disconnect the cable end from the throttle lever.

  19. Remove the two bolts and the four nuts attaching the intake collector (1) to the intake manifold.
  20. Remove the two bolts and the two nuts attaching the throttle body (3) to the intake collector (1).
  21. Remove the breather hose (2) from the throttle body (3).
  22. Move the throttle body towards the front, while sliding the intake collector towards the rear, in order to remove the throttle body from the vehicle.
