Installation Procedure.

  1. With the aide of an assistant, position the muffler assembly on the rear axle housing.

  3. Glide the rear muffler assembly to clear the rear valance.

  5. Slide the muffler assembly forward to clear the rear axle housing.

  7. Install the retaining nuts for the catalytic converter. Finger tighten the nuts.
  8. Install the muffler assembly and catalytic converter in the hangers (catalytic converter shown, muffler similar).

  10. Install the retaining nuts for the rear hangers. Finger tighten the retaining nuts.
  11. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  12. Install the catalytic converter flange retaining nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the catalytic converter retaining nuts to 45 N.m (33 lb ft).

  13. Install the rear exhaust hanger retaining nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the rear exhaust hanger retaining nuts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

    IMPORTANT: Make sure that all the reference markings are positioned correcting.
  15. Install the rear coil spring.

  17. Raise the rear axle to install the lower shock absorber bolt and nut.
  18. Install the lower shock absorber bolt and nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the shock absorber bolt to 80 N.m (59 lb ft).

  20. Install the rear axle brace. Refer to Rear Axle Brace Replacement .

  22. Install the stabilizer link and nut.

    Tighten:  Tighten the stabilizer link nut to 35 N.m (25 lb ft).

  23. Install the right rear tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
