Installation Procedure

  1. If applicable, install the power steering pump reservoir. Refer to Power Steering Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle (CB Series) .
  2. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement (5.3L) .

  3. Align the power steering pump (1) with mounting bolt holes on the engine block (2).
    4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts (3).

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  5. Attach the power steering pump return hose (3) to the power steering pump (2).
  6. Attach the power steering pump pressure hose (1) to the power steering pump (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the fittings to 25 N.m (18 lb in).

  7. Install the ECM. Refer to Engine Control Module (ECM) Replacement in Engine Controls - 6.0L.
  8. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Accessory in Engine Mechanical - 6.0L.
  9. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
