Installation Procedure

    Fig 1: Locating Cooler Pipe Retainer Bolt/Screw

  1. Install the cooler pipe to the vehicle and the frame retainers.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the cooler pipe retainer to the frame.

    Tighten:  Tighten the cooler pipe retainer bolt/screw to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the cooler pipe to the steering gear.

    Tighten:  Tighten the fitting to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  6. Install the power steering gear hose clip.

  8. Connect the power steering return hose to the cooler pipe.
  9. Raise the frame rear position.
  10. Install the rear frame bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 165 N.m (122 lb ft).

  11. Remove the utility stand.
  12. Connect the intermediate shaft to the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  13. Install the right side engine splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine in Body Front End.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
