Installation Procedure

  1. Install the reservoir to the pump. Refer to Power Steering Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle (CB Series) .
  2. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement .
  3. Fig 1: Locating Power Steering Pump Mounting Bolts

  4. Install the pump to the vehicle.
  5. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  6. Install the power steering pump bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 34 N.m (25 lb ft).

  8. Connect the power steering return hose to the pump.

  10. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the pump.

    Tighten:  Tighten the fitting to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  11. Install the engine electrical harness to the reservoir retainers.
  12. Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement for the 3.5L engine or Intake Manifold Cover Replacement for the 3.9L engine.
  13. Install the accessory drive belt to the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement for the 3.5L engine or Drive Belt Replacement for the 3.9L engine.
  14. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding the Power Steering System .
