Installation Procedure

  1. Ensure that the high pressure fuel pump, and fuel rail fittings are clean prior to assembly.
  2. Install the NEW fuel feed intermediate pipe and start the fittings hand tight.
  3. CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  4. Tighten the fuel feed intermediate pipe fittings at the fuel pump (1) and the fuel rail (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the fittings to 32 N.m (24 lb ft).

  6. Install the high pressure fuel pump insulator (1).

  8. Install the high pressure fuel pump cover bolts (1) and cover (2).

    Tighten:  Tighten the cover bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  10. Install the evaporative emission retaining clip (1) to the high pressure fuel pump cover.
  11. Install the engine wiring harness clip (3) to the high pressure fuel pump cover.
  12. Connect the high pressure fuel pump electrical connector (2).
  13. Install the engine wiring harness clip (3) to the high pressure fuel pump cover and reposition the engine wire harness.
  14. Install the charged air cooler inlet pipe. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement .
  15. Inspect for leaks using the following procedure:
    1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn OFF the ignition, for 10 seconds.
    3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
    4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
  16. Install the low side fuel pressure service port cap.
  17. Tighten the fuel fill cap.
