Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning .

CAUTION:

To prevent equipment damage, never connect or disconnect the wiring harness connection from the EBCM with the ignition switch in the ON position.

  1. Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.
  2. Thoroughly clean the area around the electronic brake control module (EBCM) of all dirt and debris.
  3. Disconnect the EBCM electrical connector.
  4. NOTE:

    Note the brake pipe locations for proper installation.

  5. Disconnect the rear brake pipe fittings (1) from the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV).
  6. Cap the brake pipe fittings and plug the BPMV outlet ports to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

    NOTE:

  8. Disconnect the front brake pipe fittings (1) from the BPMV.
  9. Cap the brake pipe fittings and plug the BPMV outlet ports to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  11. Disconnect the master cylinder brake pipe fittings (1) from the BPMV.
  12. Cap the brake pipe fittings and plug the BPMV inlet ports to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  14. Remove the BPMV nuts (1).

  16. Remove the BPMV (1).

  18. Remove the BPMV lower insulator (1).

  20. Remove the BPMV insulators (1) and bushings (2).
  21. Remove the EBCM. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement .
