Installation Procedure

    CAUTION:

    Do not touch the connector pins or soldered components on the circuit board in order to prevent possible electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage to the PCM.

    CAUTION:

    In order to prevent internal damage to the PCM, the ignition must be OFF when disconnecting or reconnecting the PCM connector.

  1. Engage the ECM retaining clips (1) to secure the ECM (2).

  3. Connect the ECM electrical connectors (1).

  5. Reposition the ECM bracket and tighten the fasteners (1) and (2) to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

  7. Install the upper bracket fasteners (1) and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
  8. Install the junction block. Refer to Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement .
  9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) , Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) .
  10. If a new ECM is being installed, program the ECM. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) .
