Removal Procedure

WARNING:

To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.

NOTE:

The fuel system pipes can be serviceable individually or as a complete fuel/brake pipe assembly. The following is the procedure for servicing the fuel pipes individually.

Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) , Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) .
Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief .
Remove the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement .
Remove the engine. Refer to Engine Replacement .
Remove the appropriate heat shields for access to the fuel/brake pipe assembly.

Disconnect the fuel pipe connector (1).

Remove the rear fuel/brake pipe assembly stone guard retaining nuts (1).
Remove the rear fuel/brake pipe assembly stone guard from the vehicle.

Remove the front fuel/brake pipe assembly protection plate (1) from the vehicle.

NOTE:

Mark the positions of the fuel/brake pipe retainers (2) before removing the fuel/brake pipe retainers (2) from the fuel/brake pipes assembly.

Remove all the fuel/brake pipe retainers (2) from the fuel/brake pipe assembly (5).
Manoeuvre and remove the fuel pipe (4) from the vehicle.
