Removal Procedure

    WARNING:

    Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning .

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) , Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) .
  2. Remove the engine compartment fuel line. Refer to Fuel Line Replacement - Engine .
  3. If replacing the right side coils, remove the evaporative emission purge pipe. Refer to Evaporative Emission Line Replacement - Engine .
  4. Reposition the engine wire harness as necessary.

  6. Disconnect the spark plug wires (1) from the ignition coils.

  8. Disconnect the main ignition coil harness connector (1) from the ignition coil assembly.
  9. Remove the ignition coil assembly to rocker cover retaining bolts (2).

  11. Remove the ignition coil assembly from the engine.
  12. Disconnect the ignition coil to ignition coil wiring harness connectors (1).

  14. Remove the ignition coil to ignition coil assembly retaining bolts (1).
  15. Remove the ignition coils from the ignition coil assembly.
