Engine Control Module Replacement

Preliminary Procedure: 
Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
1 Electronic Control Module
WARNING: Refer to Safety Glasses Warning .
CAUTION: Always turn the ignition off when installing or removing the ECM connectors in order to prevent damage to the components.

Procedure

  1. Record the current engine oil life percentage and the automatic transmission fluid life percentage and use a scan tool to update the NEW ECM, if replacing.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  3. Release the retaining tabs.
  4. If replacing, program the ECM. Refer to Control Module References .
