Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment
- Bounce the vehicle several times to settle the suspension.
- Set the wheels and steering gear to the straight ahead position.
- Disconnect the outer steering gear boot to tie rod retaining clip (1).
- Loosen the tie rod end to tie rod locking nut (2).
- Determine the actual front wheel toe setting.
- Adjust the front wheel toe to specification by turning the tie rod (3). For front wheel toe specifications, Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications .
- Tighten the tie rod end to tie rod lock nut (2). Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement .
- Verify that the toe is still within specifications. Refer to Wheel Alignment Specifications .
- If further adjustment is required, adjust as necessary.
NOTE:
The toe of the front wheels must be checked with the wheels in the straight ahead position.
NOTE:
Do not allow the tie rod (3) to turn while tightening the tie rod end to tie rod locking nut (2).
