Knock Sensor Replacement - Bank 1

Removal Procedure




1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (LGD/LZE) (Service and Repair).
3. Disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector (1).




4. Loosen and remove the knock sensor (1).

Installation Procedure

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

Note: DO NOT apply thread sealant to the sensor threads. The sensor threads are coated at the factory. Applying additional sealant affects the sensors ability to detect detonation.




1. Install and tighten the knock sensor (1).

Tighten the sensor to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




2. Connect the knock sensor electrical connector (1).
3. Install the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (LGD/LZE) (Service and Repair).
4. Lower the vehicle.
