Installation Procedure

  1. If the tank was replaced, install the fuel tank fuel pump. Refer to Fuel Tank Fuel Pump Module Replacement .
  2. Fig 1: Fuel Tank

  3. Install the fuel tank (1).

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  5. Install the fuel tank straps and tighten the fuel tank strap bolts (1) to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  7. Return the rear axle (1) to its original position.

  9. Support the rear axle with a suitable jack stand.
  10. Install NEW rear axle bushing nuts (2) and bolts (3).
  11. Install the lower wheel liner fasteners (1).

  13. Remove the shock fasteners (1) from the shock.
  14. Install the rear coil springs. Refer to Rear Spring, Insulator, and Jounce Bumper Replacement .

  16. Connect the fuel tank harness electrical connector (3).
  17. Slide the filler hose onto the tank and tighten the hose clamps (2) to 4 N.m (35 lb in).
  18. Connect the evaporative emission and fuel pipe connectors (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  19. Refill the fuel tank.
