Installation Procedure
- If you are installing a NEW power steering pump, install the power steering fluid reservoir to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement (LFX) , Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement (L99, LS3) .
- Ensure there is a plug in the power steering pump outlet port.
- Position the power steering pump (4) and the reservoir as an assembly on the power steering pump bracket.
- Install the 3 power steering pump bolts (1, 2, 3). Tighten the power steering pump bolts in sequence to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
- Remove the plug from the power steering fluid cooler outlet hose (2). Remove the plug from the power steering fluid reservoir inlet port and quickly connect the power steering fluid cooler outlet hose to the power steering fluid reservoir.
- Fill the power steering fluid reservoir. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
- Remove the cap from the power steering gear inlet hose. When fluid starts to flow from the hose, cap the hose with your thumb. Ensure the O-ring seal is on the hose and is in good condition.
- Remove the plug from the power steering pump outlet port and quickly connect the power steering gear inlet hose to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement .
- Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
- Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (LFX) , Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement (L99, LS3) .
- Remove the cover from the generator.
- Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
- Remove the drain pans.
- Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
