Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) , Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) .
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief (High Pressure) , Fuel Pressure Relief (Low Pressure) .
- Remove the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement (V6) , Exhaust System Replacement (V8) .
- Remove the engine. Refer to Engine Replacement .
- Remove the appropriate heat shields for access to the fuel/brake pipe assembly.
- Disconnect the fuel pipe connector (1).
- Remove the rear fuel/brake pipe assembly stone guard retaining nuts (1).
- Remove the rear fuel/brake pipe assembly stone guard from the vehicle.
- Disconnect the fuel feed pipe (2). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
- Disconnect the EVAP pipe (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
- Remove the front fuel/brake pipe assembly protection plate (1) from the vehicle.
- Remove all the fuel/brake pipe retainers (1) from the fuel/brake pipe assembly (2).
- Manoeuvre and remove the fuel line from the vehicle.
WARNING:
To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.
NOTE:
The fuel system pipes can be serviceable individually or as a complete fuel/brake pipe assembly. The following is the procedure for servicing the fuel pipes individually.
NOTE:
Mark the positions of the fuel/brake pipe retainers (1) before removing the fuel/brake pipe retainers (1) from the fuel/brake pipes assembly.
