Installation Procedure

  1. Position the power steering pump (2) in the vehicle through the right wheel opening.
  2. Align the bolt holes in the power steering pump with the bolt holes in the bracket (1).

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Install the 2 bolts (1, 2) to the right side of the power steering pump (3) and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

  6. Install the bolt (1) to the left side of the power steering pump (2) and tighten to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

  8. Connect the power steering fluid reservoir hose (1) to the power steering pump (2).
  9. Connect the power steering fluid cooling pipe (5) to the power steering pump.
  10. Install a NEW power steering gear inlet hose O-ring seal (3).
  11. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose to the steering gear. Refer to Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Replacement .
  12. Connect the drive belt to the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  13. Install the right front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  16. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
  17. Remove the drain pans.
