Removal Procedure
- Open the hood.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
- Ensure that the fuel level in the tank is less than 1/4 full. If necessary, drain the fuel tank to at least this level.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the front exhaust muffler assembly. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement - Front .
- Disconnect the fuel tank filler hose (1) and clamp.
- Disconnect the fuel tank vent pipe connector (2).
- Disconnect the fuel feed pipe connector (3).
- Disconnect the evaporative emission canister purge pipe connector (4).
- Disconnect the fuel tank electrical extension connector (5).
- Place a suitable jack under the fuel tank.
- Remove the fuel tank strap bolts (6) and straps.
- If needed, remove the parking brake cable retaining clamp and set it away from the path.
- Remove the fuel tank.
