Circuit/System Testing

Left Side Object Sensor Malfunction

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B94L Side Object Sensor - Left.
  2. Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 7 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  4. If all circuits test normal, replace the B94L Side Object Sensor - Left.

Right Side Object Sensor Malfunction

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B94R Side Object Sensor - Right.
  2. Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminals listed below and ground:
    • Terminal 4
    • Terminal 3
    • If greater than the specified value, test the appropriate ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 7 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B94L Side Object Sensor - Left.
  5. Ignition ON, test for less than 0.3 V between the serial data circuit terminal 5 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the serial data circuit for a short to voltage.
  6. Test for infinite resistance between the serial data circuit terminal 5 and ground.
    • If not the specified value, test the serial data circuit for a short to ground.
  7. Test for less than 5 Ω between the serial data circuit terminal 5 at the B94L Side Object Sensor - Left harness connector and the serial data circuit terminal 5 at the B94R Side Object Sensor - Right harness connector.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the serial data circuit for an open/high resistance.
  8. If all circuits test normal, replace the B94R Side Object Sensor - Right.

Side Object Indicator Malfunction

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate A9 Outside Rearview Mirror.
  2. Test for less than 5 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 11 and the ground circuit terminal 4.
  4. Ignition ON, verify the test lamp briefly illuminates during the system self test.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the appropriate side object sensor.
    • If the test lamp remains illuminated at all time, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuits test normal, replace the appropriate side object sensor.
  5. If all circuits test normal, replace the appropriate A9 Outside Rearview Mirror.
