Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    The spark plug comes pre-gapped. Do not change the spark plug gap from 1.01 mm (0.040 in).

  1. Inspect each spark plug gap. Adjust each plug as needed. Refer to Ignition System Specifications .
  2. Hand start the spark plugs in the corresponding cylinders.
  3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  4. Tighten the spark plugs. Tighten the engine spark plug on a NEW cylinder head to 20 (15 lb ft) and the engine spark plug on subsequent installations to 15 (11 lb ft).
  5. Install the spark plug wires. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement .
  6. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement .
  7. If the left side spark plugs are being serviced, install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
