Installation Procedure

Apply a small amount of grease to the inside of both ends of the steering gear boot.

Position a NEW steering gear boot inner clamp (1) on the steering gear boot (2). Install the boot and clamp onto the steering gear.
Use the J-22610 clamp pliers to crimp the steering gear boot inner clamp (1).

NOTE:

Align the match marks previously made on the steering linkage inner tie rod nut and the steering linkage inner tie rod to aid in alignment.

Install the steering linkage inner tie rod nut (1).
Install the steering linkage outer tie rod. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement .
Measure and adjust the front toe. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment .
