Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  4. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation hose. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (LL0) , Positive Crankcase Ventilation Hose/Pipe/Tube Replacement (LFM) .
  5. Disconnect the fuel feed line quick connect fitting from the fuel rail. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  6. Disconnect the fuel rail and fuel injector connector.
  7. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  8. Remove the exhaust front pipe assembly. Refer to Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (LL0) .

  9. Disconnect the starter connector wiring harness plug (1).
  10. Disconnect the generator connector wiring harness plug (2).
  11. Remove the 2 intake manifold rear bracket bolts (up) (3).
  12. Remove the intake manifold rear bracket bolt (down) (4).
  13. Remove the intake manifold bracket (5).
  14. Transfer parts as necessary.

  15. Remove the fuel rail retaining bolts (1, 2).
  16. Lower the vehicle.

  17. Remove the fuel rail and fuel injector connector (1).
