Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. WARNING:

    Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning .

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  4. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  5. Ensure that the fuel level in the tank is less than 1/4 full. If necessary, drain the fuel tank to at least this level. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .
  6. Disconnect the fuel line and wiring harness connectors. Refer to Fuel Tank Fuel Pump Module Replacement (LL0) , Fuel Tank Fuel Pump Module Replacement (LFM) .
  7. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .

  9. Remove the exhaust pipe assembly. Refer to Exhaust Pipe Replacement (LFM) .
  10. If needed, remove the parking brake cable retaining clamp and set it away from the path.

  12. Disconnect the fuel tank filler hose (1) and clamp.
  13. Disconnect the fuel tank vent pipe and clamp (2).
  14. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe connector (3).
  15. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister purge pipe connector (4).
  16. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister vent solenoid valve electrical connector (5).
  17. Place a suitable jack under the fuel tank.
  18. Remove the fuel tank strap bolts (6) and straps.
  19. Remove the fuel tank.
