Installation Procedure

  1. Using the adjustable jack, slowly raise and reposition the fuel tank in order to install the tank to the vehicle.
  2. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  3. Install the fuel tank strap and strap bolts (6) and tighten to 20 (15 lb ft).
  4. Remove the adjustable jack from under the fuel tank.
  5. Connect the fuel tank filler hose (1) and clamp.
  6. Connect the fuel tank vent pipe connector and clamp (2).
  7. Connect the fuel feed pipe connector (3).
  8. Connect the evaporative emission canister purge pipe connector (4).
  9. Connect the evaporative emission canister vent solenoid valve electrical connector (5).

  11. Install the exhaust pipe assembly. Refer to Exhaust Pipe Replacement (LFM) .
  12. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  13. Connect the fuel line and wiring harness connectors. Refer to Fuel Tank Fuel Pump Module Replacement (LL0) , Fuel Tank Fuel Pump Module Replacement (LFM) .
  14. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  15. Perform the following procedure in order to inspect for leaks:
    1. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF, for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
    4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
