Circuit/System Testing
- Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 s.
- Ignition ON.
- Ignition OFF and wait at least 10 s.
- Start the engine and keep the engine speed between 3, 500 and 4, 000 rpm for at least 1 m under no load.
- With a scan tool, check that the engine coolant temperature is greater than 70°C (158°F).
- Increase engine speed to between 2, 000 and 3, 000 rpm and hold it for 3 consecutive minutes then release the accelerator pedal completely.
- With a scan tool, check that the catalyst monitor function has changed to Complete.
- If catalyst monitor function is Incomplete,
repeat steps 7 and 8.
- If still Incomplete,
stop engine and cool it down to less than 70°C (158°F)., then repeat steps 2 - 8.
- Operate the vehicle under the conditions for running the DTC.
- If the DTC sets,
check the following components
- Exhaust system for leaks before the catalytic converter.
- Ignition timing and idle speed.
- Fuel injectors.
- Weak or poor spark.
- Engine misfire.
- Damaged oxygen sensor or wiring harness
- If any of the above faults exist,
repair as necessary.
- Go to next step: If the DTC does not reset
- All OK.
