Transmission Control Module (TCM) Replacement

If the TCM is replaced, the following procedures must be performed:

NOTE:

Use a scan tool to view and record the Transmission Control Module - End Model Part Number in the original TCM prior to starting the TCM reprogramming procedure.

If you are unable to communicate with the TCM during step 1 and do not have a CD-ROM containing characterization data for this transmission. Take a picture of the QR Code label and send to TCSC. TCSC will retrieve the data from the label and send back the information needed for Transmission Control Module-Configuration.

  1. Using a Scan Tool, access the Service Programming System (SPS) and follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. Before removing the old control module, perform the SPS function, Prepare Control Module for Removal, if available.
    NOTE:

    The Prepare Control Module for Removal function can only be performed when communication with the old control module is still possible.

  3. Replace the TCM.
  4. Perform the SPS function K71 Transmission Control Module-Programming and follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. Clear the DTC's after completing the Programming procedure.
    NOTE:

    When prompted select the file from Prepare Control Module for Removal step.

  6. Perform the SPS function K71 Transmission Control Module-Configuration and follow the on-screen instructions.
  7. Clear DTC's after completing the Configuration & Setup procedure.
