Removal Procedure

WARNING: The noise cancelling foam component MUST be replaced if it has been exposed to engine fluids. Failure to replace the noise cancelling foam component that has been exposed to engine fluids may result in an engine fire resulting in catastrophic engine damage and possible injury or death.
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure» Fuel Pressure Relief 
  3. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose @ Throttle Body» Disconnect - Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Replacement 
  4. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose» Reposition away
  5. Electrical Connector (4) @ Fuel Injection Fuel Rail» Disconnect

  6. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor electrical connector. (5)
  7. Engine Wiring Harness Clip (1, 2)» Unclip [2x]
  8. Engine Wiring Harness (3)» Position aside
  9. Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe» Remove - Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement - High Pressure 
  10. Engine Wiring Harness Bracket Bolt (1)» Remove [2x]

  11. Engine Wiring Harness Bracket» (2) Position aside
  12. Disconnect the electrical connector. (2)

  13. Fuel Pump Insulator (3) @ Fuel Pump (1)» Remove
  14. Fuel Feed Front Pipe (1) @ Fuel Pump (2)» Disconnect - Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

  15. Close all connections with EN-6015  plugs.
  16. Loosen the 2 fuel pump bolts (4) alternating in steps of 1/2 turn.

  17. Fuel Pump Bolt (4)» Remove [2x]
  18. Fuel Pump (3)» Remove
    NOTE: Ensure the valve lifter follower (1) does not slide out of the head bore during the removal of the fuel pump.
  19. Valve Lifter Follower (1)» Remove
  20. Fuel Pump Seal (2)» Remove and DISCARD
