Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  2. Drain the fuel tank. Fuel Tank Draining 
  3. Relieve the fuel pressure:Fuel Pressure Relief 
  4. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

    NOTE:

    Do not cut the exhaust system.

  6. Remove Exhaust System (1)Exhaust System Replacement (Notchback)Exhaust System Replacement (Hatchback)

  8. Remove Fuel Tank Heat Shield (1) Fuel Tank Heat Shield Replacement (1.4L LE2, and 1.6L Diesel LH7 - Notchback)

  10. Remove Parking Brake Cable Nut (3)
  11. Remove Parking Brake Cable (2) @Retainer (4)
  12. Remove Parking Brake Cable (2) @Parking Brake Cable Bracket (1) -
  13. Hang both parking brake cables aside.

  15. Disconnect Fuel Feed Pipe - Underbody (1) Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  16. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister front pipe (1). Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  17. Close all connections with EN-6015  plugs.

  19. Disconnect Evaporative Emission Canister Filter Pipe (2) @Evaporative Emission Canister (1) Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  20. Position aside Evaporative Emission Canister Filter Pipe (2)
  21. Fig 6: Electrical Connector

  22. Disconnect the electrical connector.(1)
  23. Fig 7: Suitable Jack, Fuel Tank Straps And Bolts

  24. Support the fuel tank with a suitable jack.(3)
  25. Fuel Tank Strap Bolt (4)
  26. Fuel Tank Strap (2)
  27. Remove the fuel tank (1) by retracting the jack (3).
  28. NOTE:

    A second technician is required.

  29. Remove the fuel tank (1) from the jack (3).
