Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the right catalytic converter from the vehicle. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side .

  5. Remove the starter motor heat shield retaining fasteners (1).
  6. Remove the heat shield (2) from the vehicle.

  8. Disconnect the oil level switch connector (1) and the harness retainer (2), to the battery positive cable bracket.
  9. Disconnect the knock sensor connector (4) and the electrical connector (3), to the starter solenoid.

  11. Remove the protective boot (1) covering the starter B + stud and remove the battery positive cable fastener (2).
  12. Remove the battery positive cable bracket fastener (3) and remove the battery positive cable (4), from the starter.

  14. Remove the starter mounting fasteners (1) and remove the starter (2) from the bell housing.
