Installation Procedure
- Ensure the high pressure fuel pipe fittings, high pressure fuel pump, and fuel rail are clean and dry prior to assembly.
- Lubricate the high pressure fuel pipe fittings with silicon free engine oil GM P/N 12345610 (Canadian P/N 993193) or equivalent.
- Position the high pressure fuel pipe (2) to the vehicle.
- Install the fuel feed pipe fittings to the high pressure fuel pump (1) and the left fuel rail (3) and hand tighten.
- Tighten the fuel feed pipe fittings to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).
- Inspect for leaks using the following procedure:
- Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
- Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
- Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
- Inspect for fuel leaks.
- Install the low side fuel pressure service port cap.
- Tighten the fuel fill cap.
- Install the high pressure fuel pump shield. Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement
- Install the fuel injector sight shield. Fuel Injector Sight Shield Replacement
CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
NOTE:
If a fuel leak occurs at the high pressure fuel pump or the fuel rail then that component will need to be replaced.
