Throttle Body Inspection and Cleaning
NOTE:
Over extended time and mileage, deposits may accumulate on the back of the throttle valve plate. Typically these deposits pose no problem. Occasionally the deposit may accumulate to a point where perceived pedal effort or throttle valve movement is effected.
- Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
- Inspect the throttle body bore and the throttle valve plate for deposits. You will need to open the throttle valve in order to inspect all surfaces.
- Clean the throttle body bore and the throttle valve plate using a clean shop towel with GM Top Engine Cleaner. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
- Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
- Perform the Throttle/Idle Learn procedure. Refer to Throttle or Idle Learn .
WARNING:
Turn OFF the ignition before inserting fingers into the throttle bore. Unexpected movement of the throttle blade could cause personal injury.
CAUTION:
Do not insert any tools into the throttle body bore in order to avoid damage to the throttle valve plate.
CAUTION:
Do not use any solvent that contains Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). This solvent may damage fuel system components.
