Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment

  1. Remove the power steering gear seal small clamps.
  2. Verify that the steering wheel is centered and the wheels are in the straight ahead position.
  3. Fig 1: Tie Rod & Jam Nut

  4. Loosen the left and right tie rod jam nuts (2).
  5. NOTE:

    Verify that the number of threads showing on both inner tie rod ends are approximately equal.

  6. Rotate the inner tie rods in order to obtain the proper toe angle of 0 degrees.
  7. CAUTION:

    Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Tighten the tie rod end jam nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the left and right tie rod jam nuts (2) to 75 N.m (55 lb ft).

  9. NOTE:

    Verify that the power steering gear seal is not twisted.

  10. Install the power steering gear seal small clamps.
