Programming an Existing or New Control Module

To program an existing or new control module, perform the following procedure:

1. Install the special tool: EL-49642 SPS Programming Support Tool
2. Open the Service Programming System (SPS) - Refer to: Service Programming System (SPS) 
3. Select: J2534 MDI
4. Select: Reprogram ECU
5. Select: Vehicle Data
6. Select: K73 Telematics Communication Interface Control Module
7. Select: Programming
8. Select: Normal
9. Follow the on-screen instructions.
10. The SPS programming must have successfully completed before continuing.
11. Open the dealer OnStar portal and navigate to the control module exchange page.
12. Follow the on-screen instructions.
13. Press the blue OnStar button and ask the OnStar advisor to activate the OnStar subscription again.
