K71 Transmission Control Module: Programming and Setup (MFQ): Notes
WARNING:
Hydraulic fluid pressure must be relieved before attempting to service the transmission control. Ensure that the recommended procedures are followed to relieve system pressure. Failure to properly follow procedures to depressurize the system may result in personal injury.
CAUTION:
Before programming a control module, the following must be observed, or control module damage may occur:
- The TIS terminal, MDI, and/or scan tool must have the latest software.
- The vehicle battery must be fully charged. The battery voltage should be between 12 - 14 volts.
- The TIS terminal, MDI, and/or scan tool connections must be secure.
- A battery charger must NOT be connected to the battery when programming a control module.
NOTE:
- Do NOT program a control module unless directed to by a service procedure or a service bulletin. If the control module is not properly configured with the correct calibration software, the control module will not control all of the vehicle features properly.
- Stable battery voltage is critical during programming. Any fluctuation, spiking, over voltage or loss of voltage will interrupt programming. When required install the below mentioned special tool to maintain system voltage. If not available, connect a fully charged 12 V jumper or booster pack disconnected from the AC voltage supply.
