Reprogram a Control Module after Transmission Repair/Replacement

To program an existing K71 Transmission Control Module, after a transmission repair/replacement, perform the following procedure:

  1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  2. NOTE:

    Begin with the vehicle in vehicle OFF power mode. The Service Programming System will power mode the vehicle.

  3. Access the Service Programming System (SPS) and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. On the SPS Supported Controllers screen select K71 Transmission Control Module - Programming, and follow the on screen instructions.
  5. Perform the Refresh Characterization Data at the MCVM Characterization procedure. Refer to: Q77 Transmission Control Solenoid Valve Characterization Programming 
  6. Perform the scan tool configuration/reset function: Transmission Service Fast Learn - If available
