Preliminary Procedures Power Transfer Unit Case Replacement NOTE: Check power transfer case fluid level. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities , and Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
1	Power Transfer Unit Intermediate Drive Shaft Clip NOTE: Remove and DISCARD the retainer.
2	Power Transfer Unit Half Shaft Seal - O-Ring NOTE: Remove and DISCARD the O-ring seal.
3	Power Transfer Unit Intermediate Drive Shaft Seal CAUTION: When replacing power transfer unit case seals, use appropriate GM tools along with a hydraulic press. Failure to do so may result in misalignment or damage to the seal and/or power transfer unit. CAUTION: Do not nick, scratch or damage the sealing surface. The sealing surface is a machined surface. Damage to the machined surface can cause leakage. Procedure Remove seal with a thin flat putty knife or equivalent. Inserting the blade of the tool between the outside diameter of the seal and the extension housing surface. Install the NEW power transfer unit intermediate drive shaft seal using the supplied seal installer.

6	Power Transfer Unit Intermediate Drive Shaft Bearing Procedure Use a press and press blocks to install the bearing.
