Front View Camera Module Learn: Calibration

NOTE:
  • Do NOT swap cameras between vehicles. This is not an approved procedure and will result in a VIN mismatch.
  • After replacement of the B174W Frontview Camera - Windshield and SPS programming, a current DTC may be set in the B174W Frontview Camera - Windshield. This is normal and is an indication that the 174W Frontview Camera - Windshield does not have a currently learned calibration. Continue with this calibration procedure. Upon successful completion of the calibration, the DTC will transition to a history DTC and can be cleared.

The calibration process for the B174W Frontview Camera - Windshield is necessary any time the module is removed from it's bracket, or the windshield glass has been replaced  . This includes replacement of the B174W Frontview Camera - Windshield, as well as any time the module is removed for diagnosis or windshield replacement. Any maintenance, repair, or part replacement that impacts the vehicle ride height will also require frontview camera calibration.  When the correct driving conditions are met, this process can be completed within 3 - 5 minutes. If conditions are not met, the B174W Frontview Camera - Windshield will continuously run the calibration until successfully completed. This calibration will work across ignition cycles and is not required to be re-initialized at start up. If the lane departure warning switch is pressed during calibration, the lane departure warning switch indictor will flash momentarily and then remain not illuminated. This is normal operation.

The calibration procedure may start automatically after SPS programming is complete. During this time the amber Lane Departure Warning indicator on the P16 Instrument Cluster will illuminate.

To calibrate the B174W Frontview Camera - Windshield, operate the vehicle in the following conditions until the calibration is complete:

Once the procedure is complete, the amber indicator will turn off. Shortly after the green ready to assist light should turn on as long as all conditions are met for normal operation. The system is then ready to assist.

If calibration does not begin automatically after SPS programming or if any diagnostic procedure requires calibration to be performed, perform the following with a scan tool to begin the calibration procedure:

  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Place the transmission in Park (if applicable)
  3. Install scan tool
  4. Select B174 Frontview Camera
  5. Select Configuration/ Reset Functions
  6. Select the Frontview Camera Learn and follow the directions displayed on the screen.
  7. Drive the vehicle to complete calibration.
