Replace and Program Control Module

NOTE:
  • Some vehicles may be equipped with the handsfree liftgate control option (TC2), it is important to select the correct calibration software for vehicles with or without this option as programming the liftgate with the incorrect software will cause the power liftgate system to become inoperative without any DTCs indicated
  • Due to semiconductor chip shortages, some vehicles that would normally be built with the handsfree liftgate control option (TC2) will not have the K171 Handsfree Liftgate Control Module. Instead there will be a dummy module in its place. These vehicles will still have RPO TC2 (LIFTGATE, POWER, HANDS FREE) but will also have RPO 09F (NOT EQUIPPED WITH LIFTGATE, POWER, HANDS FREE). Vehicles with RPO 09F should be programmed as a normal non-handsfree liftgate.
  • The liftgate must be completely closed and latched, if the liftgate is open or ajar during programming, the power liftgate system may become inoperative without any DTCs indicated
  • Verify all modules are connected and communicating before attempting to program the K194 Rear Gate Module.

To program a replacement control module, perform the following procedure:

  1. Access the Service Programming System (SPS) and follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. On the SPS Supported Controllers screen, select K194 Rear Gate Module - Programming and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. On the SPS Supported Controllers screen, select K194 Rear Gate Module- Setup and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Clear DTCs
