Programming a New Control Module

NOTE:

Instances may occur where data is not transferred during the Prepare Control Module for Removal Function

  1. Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
  2. Perform the scan tool function: Create Report
    • Air Cleaner Life Remaining
    • Engine Oil Life Remaining
    • Fuel Filter Life Remaining
    • Injector Flow Identifier
  3. NOTE:

    The Prepare Control Module for Removal function can only be performed when communication with the old control module is still possible.

  4. Prepare the component for replacement.

    Select: Prepare Control Module for Reprogramming or Removal - If applicable

  5. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
  6. Replace the component: K45 Powertrain Control Module
  7. Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
  8. If equipped, perform the SPS function Immobilizer Learn and follow the on-screen instructions. Refer to Immobilizer System Component Programming .
  9. Access SPS and follow the on-screen instructions for the control module: K45 Powertrain Control Module
  10. Perform the necessary programming and setup procedure:
    • Select: Refresh Characterization Data
    • Select: Replace - Control Valve Body
    • Select: Replace - Transmission
  11. Perform the scan tool function: Clear DTCs
  12. Perform the scan tool configuration/reset function:
    • Configuration/Reset Functions - Engine - If applicable
    • Configuration/Reset Functions - Transmission - If applicable
  13. Perform the scan tool function: Clear DTCs
