Replace and Program Control Module
To program a replacement control module, perform the following procedure:
The vehicle must remain in PARK and the driver's door closed during the programming procedure.
- Ignition/vehicle OFF
- Connect a USB drive to the computer.
- Perform a Quick Format on the USB drive to FAT32.
- Access the Service Programming System (SPS) and follow the on-screen instructions.
- On the SPS Supported Controllers screen, select A11 Radio - USB Copy/USB File Transfer.
- Upon completion of the file transfer, properly eject the USB drive from the computer.
- Engine running, infotainment system ON.
- Connect the USB drive to the USB port in the vehicle. Programming may take up to 30 minutes.
- Upon completion of programming, remove the USB drive and follow the on-screen instructions in SPS.
- On the SPS Supported Controllers screen, select A11 Radio - Programming and then follow the on-screen instructions.
- On the SPS Supported Controllers screen, select A11 Radio - Configuration and Setup and then follow the on-screen instructions.
- Clear DTCs.
- Perform the Manufacturer Enable Counter (MEC) reset - Access the Global Diagnostic System 2 (GDS2) and identify the vehicle
- On the GDS2 screen select Module Diagnostics - Radio (select appropriate RPO) - Configuration/reset functions - Reset Manufacturer Enable Counter and follow the on - screen instructions.
- Ignition OFF, Retained Accessory Power (RAP) OFF, remove the key fob from range of the vehicle, and let the vehicle sit for five minutes. Retest system operation to verify the repair.
If USB programming is unavailable, or if the selected software description is the following proceed to step 11: STOP. If you are seeing this text, the controller already has the latest software available. If you try to proceed further, SPS will generate an error. .
The Radio screen will be blank because of not being programmed.
If the engine is not running during the USB portion, programming will fail.
After installing the USB in the vehicle, do not remove until receiving the Complete message in SPS.
After successful completion of the A11 Radio - Programming, the radio display should now be working.
You may receive a message stating the Reset Manufacturer Enable Counter (MEC) procedure is not required if the MEC counter is already at 0.
