Blend-Air Door Positioning

As an aid to diagnosis, blend air door can be locked in full reheat, minimum reheat or a mid-position by over-riding the temperature sensors. Adjust as follows:

  1. For full reheat, disconnect In-Car-Sensor from red harness connector and switch on system.
  2. For minimum reheat, connect jumper wire between point "E" of disconnected red harness connector and harness ground connection. See Figure. Switch system on to position door.
  3. If a mid-position is desired, disconnect battery, SATC harness and blower motor ground lugs, then reconnect blower ground. Temporarily reconnect harness ground lug to a good body ground and reconnect battery. Move temperature control lever to set blend-air door in desired position, then disconnect jumper wire. Door will remain in this position until harness ground lug is reconnected to body ground.
  4. Electronic high-torque servomotor normally produces a low, humming sound as blend air door moves. If servomotor does not move, check for minimum of 11 volts between servomotor power feed and ground lug and associated wires.
