Coolant Temperature Sensor

  1. Connect ohmmeter leads to sensor terminals. With engine cold and ambient temperature below 90°F (32°C), resistance should be 500-1000 ohms. With engine hot (normal operating temperature), resistance should be more than 1300 ohms.
  2. If not to specifications, replace coolant temperature sensor. The sensor will continually change its resistance with changes in engine operating temperature. This device is NOT a switch.
