Knock Sensor

The knock sensor (detonation sensor) is mounted on the rear of the valve cover. The knock sensor picks up detonation vibration from the engine and converts it to an electrical signal for use by the power module.

The power module uses this information to inform the logic module that a change in ignition timing is required. The knock sensor allows for engine operation on either "premium" unleaded or "regular" unleaded fuel.
