Throttle Position Sensor
The throttle position sensor (TPS) is an electric resistor which is activated by the movement of the throttle shaft. It is mounted on the throttle body and senses the angle of throttle blade opening.
A voltage signal is produced by the sensor which varies with this angle. This signal is transmitted to the logic module where it is used to adjust air/fuel ratio during acceleration, deceleration, idle, and wide open throttle conditions.
