1.6L, 2.2L & 2.5L (Except 2.2L Turbo)
NOTE:
To assure proper operation of EGR system all passages and moving parts must be free from plugging or sticking as a result of deposits. It is also important for the entire system to be free from leaks, any hoses or components found to be leaking should be replaced.
- With engine at operating temperature, allow engine to run an additional 70 seconds. Attach a tachometer to engine. Accelerate engine abruptly to approximately 2000 RPM, but not over 3000 RPM.
- During this procedure check EGR valve stem for movement. Visible movement of valve stem should occur. Repeat test to confirm operation.
- Movement of stem indicates that control system is functioning correctly. If faulty operation is indicated, see TROUBLE SHOOTING .
